The Heroic Epic of Gilgamesh is Written in Clay

The world became acquainted with the Gilgamesh Epic through a version discovered in the Library of Ashurbanipal (668-626 BC) at Ninevah. This Babylonian fragment, now in the Yale Collection, is at least 1,000 years older. The Ninevah's relic's Eleventh Tablet tells the story of the Great Flood.
